Privacy Practices

Revised October 15, 2026

These Privacy Practices explain how The Food Receipt ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses and discloses personal information through https://thefoodreceipt.com (the "Site"), and describe your choices and rights, including rights under US state privacy laws.

1. Personal information we collect

Messages you send

When you write to us by email, we receive your address, any name you include and the message itself.

Holiday plan requests

The holiday plan form collects your first name and email address (both required) and an optional phone number. It also collects your occasion, guest count, baking experience, the items you'd like to make, dietary needs, any notes you write (for example family favorites or allergies), the date and time of your request, and your confirmation that you are 18 or older and agree to our use of the information.

That information is used for one purpose only: to prepare and email your plan and to answer your follow-up questions. It isn't used for marketing, isn't added to a mailing list, isn't sold, and isn't shared for targeted advertising. Each request is forwarded to our team by email, with a backup kept in a non-public folder on our server. Any allergy or health information you choose to include is used only to adjust your plan.

Information collected automatically

Our host records standard server logs — such as IP address, browser and device details, pages requested and timestamps — for security and upkeep. If we turn on analytics or advertising, those providers may also gather device identifiers, activity on the Site and approximate location using cookies and similar methods.

Measure translator

The translator does its work inside your browser. We never receive what you type into it.

2. How we use personal information

3. Google advertising, analytics and cookies

Google Analytics, Google AdSense and Google Ads may be used on the Site.

Find out how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and see our Cookie Statement.

4. When we disclose personal information

We disclose personal information to service providers that help operate the Site — including hosting and email providers — and require them to protect it. If analytics or advertising are switched on, cookie information flows to those providers. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety and rights of others.

We have not sold personal information for money. Certain state laws may still regard advertising cookies as a "sale" or as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out at any time, as described below.

5. Retention

We delete holiday plan requests and emails within 12 months, or earlier on request, unless the law requires us to keep them. Server logs follow our host's retention period, and analytics and advertising data follow each provider's settings.

6. Your US privacy rights

Depending on where you live — for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon or another state with a consumer privacy law — you may be entitled to:

To make a request, email [email protected] with "Privacy request" in the subject and explain what you'd like. We'll verify the request by confirming it with the email address connected to your information. Where state law permits, an authorized agent may submit a request for you. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying with "Appeal" in the subject line; we'll respond within the time the law requires.

To opt out, go to Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. We treat Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a valid opt-out request.

California "Shine the Light": we don't share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

7. Children's privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not aimed at children under 13. We don't knowingly gather personal information from anyone under 13, in keeping with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Holiday plan requests are limited to people 18 and older. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.

8. Security

Pages are delivered over HTTPS, and holiday plan requests are stored in a folder that isn't publicly accessible. Although no system is completely secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

9. Do Not Track

Since browsers' "Do Not Track" signals lack an agreed standard, we don't respond to them. We do honor Global Privacy Control, as explained above.

10. Changes to these practices

We may update these Privacy Practices from time to time. The revision date at the top shows the current version, and we'll post a notice on the Site for significant changes.

11. Contact

Write to [email protected] with any privacy questions.
